They've been rough cut milled and kiln dried under cover since cutting and are ready for final flattening in your shop. Like all rough slabs, expect to run them across a planer or router sled — that final surfacing is where the spalt figure really pops.

Mostly, yes — the natural edge and bark line are intact on most boards. Many makers keep the edge profile and stabilize it with epoxy; others prefer to ease it back to solid wood. Both look incredible with this figure.
